In the 2360s decade, the Curie operated as a rescue vessel under the flag officer Terman. While entitled to the rank of commodore, Terman preferred to go by doctor. In 2367, the Curie completed a mission at Tri Epsilon Delta before proceeding to the planet Penzatti. Penzatti had been ravaged by a Doomsday machine and required evacuation. Doctor Terman conferred with Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Galaxy-class explorer USS Enterprise-D on the scale of assisting the Penzatti. (TNG novel: Vendetta)
