The USS Darwin was a 23rd century Federation starship.
Service history and disposition[]
Darwin's predecessor, the Daedalus-class SS Charles Darwin, was destroyed in the year 2267. (TOS - New Visions comic: "Cry Vengeance")
In the early 2270s decade, Andy Kinderman served as Darwin's chief biologist.
In 2273, Rear Admiral James T. Kirk and his uncle Abner Kirk recalled Kinderman's service on Darwin, as the man had been a childhood friend of the Kirk family in Iowa. Kinderman had requested reassignment once or twice since that time to be stationed closer to his family, most recently earlier that year. (TOS eBook: Shadow of the Machine)
By the 24th century, Darwin had been succeeded in name by the Nebula-class USS Darwin. (TNG novel: Dyson Sphere, TNG video game: Armada II)
