The USS Defender was an Akira-class Federation cruiser starship in Starfleet service in the 24th century. This ship was in active service around the 2370s decade. (TNG video games: Armada, Armada II)

History[]

Following the Cardassian uprising and the obliteration of the Federation reserve fleet in the Pearl Nebula on Stardate 54642.8 (August 23rd, 2377), the Defender was found derelict near Zarush by Chancellor Martok and his small fleet of Klingon Defense Force ships. Martok instructed his warriors to retrieve and repair all of the derelict Federation ships before Ferengi scavengers could seize them. The Defender subsequently participated in Martok's obliteration of the Cardassian base in the system. (TNG video game: Armada II mission: "Uprising: A Dagger at Zarush")

The Klingons returned the salvaged ships to the Federation, and the Defender returned to active duty. (TNG video game: Armada II)

No final fate is established for this vessel as its name was randomly selected for a cruiser by the game software.
