The USS Der Sonnenaufgang was a Miranda-class Federation starship in operation during the late 24th century. The ship was configured as a "cargo" variant, with cargo and supplies-carrying capacity maximized and lacking the weapons pod of the standard Miranda configuration.
In 2379 the Der Sonnenaufgang, along with her sister ships USS Phoebus and USS T'rin'saz, was part of the Federation aid/diplomatic mission to Romulus following the death of Praetor Shinzon. At the end of that mission Der Sonnenaufgang carried Ambassador Spock back to Earth. (TTN novel: Taking Wing)
- "Der Sonnenaufgang" is German for "The Sunrise". The German version of Taking Wing refers to the ship simply as "Sonnenaufgang" the omitting the "Der" article.
