In 2267, the Essex was attacked and suffered heavy damage by Orion pirates. (TOS episode: "Journey to Babel.")
In 2269, the Essex was under the command of Captain Salar. Later that year, the crew foiled a Klingon attempt to interfere with the culture of 34 Kraol III. (FASA RPG: Imbalance of Power.)
