The USS Euphrates was a Danube-class runabout assigned to Deep Space 9. Lieutenant Nog had been working to improve its warp speed capability and with its upgrades the Euphrates was able to sustain a maximum speed of warp 8.1.

History[]

In the year 2376, Kira Nerys, Kasidy Yates, Ro Laren and Yevir Linjarin used the Euphrates to travel to Bajor, where they beamed down to B'hala. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book Two)

Two weeks later, Julian Bashir, Ezri Dax, Taran'atar and Ro Laren used the Euphrates to travel to the planet Sindorin. Ro chose the Euphrates for its maneuverability in turbulent atmospheres like Sindorin's. After arriving at Sindorin, the Euphrates was badly damaged in an attack by an orbital weapon platform and ships loyal to Ethan Locken. The ship crashed on the surface, but survived the impact. The crew were later able to escape in it. (DS9 - Section 31 novel: Abyss)

A week later, the Euphrates was used as part of a convoy to evacuate Europa Nova. The runabout, under Kira's control, later stopped a mass of antimatter waste emitting theta radiation from landing near the city of Spilimbergo. Kira later took the Euphrates through an Iconian gateway and into the Delta Quadrant. (DS9 - Gateways novels: Demons of Air and Darkness, Horn and Ivory)

In January 2377, the Euphrates was hijacked by Taran'atar who forced the kidnapped Prynn Tenmei to pilot it toward Harkoum. Ensign Tenmei sabotaged the ship on the border between the Bajor sector and the Almatha sector, which enabled the Klingon vessel the IKS noH'pach to detect them. Taran'atar then commandeered the noH'pach, killing its crew, and used it to destroy the Euphrates. (DS9 novel: Warpath)
