In the Kelvin timeline, the USS Excalibur[2] was a Federation starship, a Constitution-class command cruiser/flagship in Starfleet service in the 23rd century.

Service history and disposition[]

The Excalibur, then under the command of Captain Prax, was one of the ships activated to defend Earth from the Varkolak fleet in the year 2256. During the crisis, Cadet Hikaru Sulu was assigned to the vessel as relief helmsman. Sulu convinced Prax to listen to Spock's Priority One order to stand down from engaging the Varkolak fleet, despite the Excalibur being targeted by twelve different Varkolak vessels. (TOS - Starfleet Academy novel: The Assassination Game)

The Excalibur was part of the Starfleet force that battled starships of the Romulan Star Empire in the 2250s decade.[1] (TOS video game: D-A-C)

Background[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 D-A-C gives no date, but as it features the USS Enterprise it is presumably set after the events of Star Trek, which featured the launch of the Enterprise in 2258.
  2. In D-A-C starship names are selected and allocated at random. The game features eleven Federation starship names which are assigned randomly to all classes of ships in the game. The Excalibur is therefore also known as the name of vessels of the four other Starfleet classes in the game.
