The USS Franklin (NCC-246) was a United Earth starship, a Strider-class scout in Earth Starfleet service in the 22nd century.
History and specifications
This ship was in active service around the year 2159. (ST video game: Legacy)
This vessel was one of a number of vessels named Franklin, for Benjamin Franklin, a statesman of Earth history, and various other persons and places that shared that name. Prior to this ship, the warp 4 ship USS Franklin (NX-326) had borne the name, and that same predecessor vessel was eventually adopted into Federation Starfleet service, apparently as a successor to this Franklin. No specific history or definitive final fate was established for this vessel as its name was selected for a ship by the Legacy game developers, and is sometimes placed randomly when the ship appears.
This Franklin existed in Earth service by the Earth-Romulan War era, but had apparently been preceded by the warp 4 ship Franklin depited in Star Trek Beyond, since the War era was well after subsequent warp 5 ships had been built during Star Trek: Enterprise. The Star Trek Beyond ship, in the course of the film, was revealed to have been adopted into Federation Starfleet service after this Strider-class Franklin, in the 2160s decade.
