The USS Freedom was a 23rd century Federation starship, an Oberth-class science vessel in Starfleet service in the 2280s decade, one of a number of Federation vessels to be named Freedom.

Service history and disposition[]

A simulacrum of this ship was used in the elite Klingon Command Academy bridge crew training simulations for the class of the year 2290. As such, she was encountered in the Sol star system in a simulated mission, in company with the USS Yamato, USS Johnson, USS Hurricane, USS Dvorak, USS Huntington, USS Vengeance, USS Omaha, USS Arcus, USS Avalanche, USS Decker, USS Mitchell, USS Tamorra, and USS Exodus. (TOS video game: Klingon Academy)

By the 24th century, this vessel had been succeeded in name by the Freedom-class prototype USS Freedom. (TNG novel: Before Dishonor)
