The USS Gagarin (NX-97930, and later NCC-97930) was a Federation starship, the tier 6 Gagarin-class battlecruiser prototype in Starfleet service from the 2410s decade. It was named after the Shepard-class USS Gagarin lost during Burnham's War in 2256. (STO - Mirror of Discovery short story: "Jayce's Interstellar: Around the Galaxy")
History[]
Following the recovery of Yard 39 in 2410, 150 years after it was abandoned in the TL-9139 system in 2259, Starfleet revived ship classes of that bygone era and developed new types based on the recovered hulks. The Gagarin was the lead ship of a new battlecruiser class, based on the Shepard-class hulks recovered at Yard 39.
The Gagarin was constructed at the San Francisco Fleet Yards in orbit of Sol III in the Vulcan sector. On stardate 87831.2, by Jayce's Interstellar included an image of the moored Gagarin surrounded by workbees. (STO - Mirror of Discovery short story: "Jayce's Interstellar: Around the Galaxy")
Soon after launch, one of the Gagarin's flights led it past a planet. (STO website: Mirror of Discovery: The Stats of the Discovery Operations Bundle!)
