The USS Galen was a Starfleet medical ship in service during the late 23rd century.

Service history[]

In 2270, at the conclusion of James T. Kirk's five-year mission aboard the USS Enterprise, the newly promoted Rear Admiral offered Leonard McCoy command of the Galen. McCoy declined, saying that was a young man's job, and he didn't want to die for Starfleet, preferring instead to retire from active duty. (TOS - Mission's End comic: "Issue 5")
