The USS Genesee was a Danube-class runabout in service in the 24th century. As of 2381, the Genesee was assigned to the Federation Displaced Persons Agency. That year, following the Borg Invasion, Dr. Beverly Crusher was asked by DPA Director Barash to take command of the Genesee and lead a fact-finding mission to investigate refugee living conditions on Pacifica. Also assigned with Crusher were Commander Miranda Kadohata, Ensign Thur chim Gliv, Doctor Meron Byxthar, and Paul Dillingham.
After determining the dire situation on Pacifica, and to end debate among the mission team as to how to proceed, Crusher grounded the Genesee at the iy'Dewra'ni Refugee Camp, in order to better supply the camp, though in violation of Starfleet regulations. The vessel and its equipment were quickly cannibalized for other purposes around camp. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
