The USS Gettysburg (NCC-1728) was a Federation starship, a Constitution-class heavy cruiser in service to Starfleet in the late 23rd century. This ship was one of a number of spacecraft named for the city of Gettysburg on Earth's North American continent and the famous Gettysburg Address given there during the United States' Civil War.
In particular, the Gettysburg was a refit ship of the Enterprise-subclass, specifically outfitted as a heavy command cruiser (CB) by the 2280s decade. (ST video game: Starfleet Command)
