The USS John Glenn (NCC-2707) was a Federation starship, a Meteor-class cruiser,[1] training vessel[2] and science vessel[3] in Starfleet service in the 23rd century and 24th century. (TNG - Starfleet Academy (YA Book Series) novel: Capture the Flag, NF - No Limits short story: "Singularity")

This ship is named after the American astronaut John Glenn.

Service history and disposition[]

During her service career, the John Glenn fought alongside the USS Enterprise-A, the USS Sun Tzu, and other starships against an unidentified foe in an unnamed planetary system. (ST calendar: Ships of the Line 2011)

Originally, the Glenn was a cruiser starship. By the 2350s decade, it had been refitted into a training vessel for Starfleet Academy. Its commanding officer was Captain Joe McKersie.

In late Summer 2353, the Glenn was ordered on a training voyage to the planet Saffair. McKersie gave an extensive tour to the first year cadets, including Geordi La Forge. (TNG - Starfleet Academy (YA Book Series) novel: Capture the Flag)

In 2368, the Glenn operated as a science vessel and participated in the Singularity One Project as a support vessel. In the project, the USS Amazon was to navigate the event horizon of a black hole. The project was ultimately unsuccessful. (NF short story: "Singularity")
