For other uses, see Hale.

The USS Hale (NCC-3873) was a Federation starship, a Ptolemy-class transport tug of the Doppler-subclass (Mk VIB), ordered for construction in the 23rd century.

Service history and disposition[]

Construction of Hale was authorized by the Starfleet appropriation of stardate 4990. (ST reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)

The stardate given would seem to suggest this ship was ordered during the TOS era in the late 2260s decade. It is not positively known if this vessel was built, only that it was authorized.
Since ships of the Ptolemy-subclasses are named primarily for well-known astronomers, it seems likely this vessel was named for George Ellery HaleWP.
