The USS Hammarskjöld was an Ambassador-class starship in service to Starfleet in the 24th century.
In the year 2354, shortly after the loss of her husband, Doctor Beverly Crusher was offered the position of chief medical officer aboard the Hammarskjöld. She declined, as it would have meant leaving behind her young son, Wesley. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
By 2376, the Hammarskjöld was under the command of Captain Conley, and assigned to the Federation Diplomatic Corps. In that year, they were dispatched to the planet Mariposa, to help deal with the civil discord there. (SCE eBook: Out of the Cocoon)
- It is possible that the Hammarskjöld is named for the late Dag HammarskjöldWP, Secretary-General of the United NationsWP from 1953 to 1961.
