Helios at the anomaly

The Helios in 2400.

In the 25th century, Starfleet categorised Akira-class starships as tier 4 heavy escorts. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

In the year 2400, the USS Stargazer investigated a spatial anomaly discovered by the USS Avalon. When a massive Borg ship emerged from the anomaly, the Helios was part of the armada Starfleet built up to reinforce the Stargazer and Admiral Jean-Luc Picard. When the Borg Queen boarded the Stargazer, the Borg Collective attempted to seize control of the fleet. Picard self destructed the Stargazer to stop the Borg and save the armada. (PIC episode: "The Star Gazer")

Legacy[]

Launched in 2409, the Dyson science destroyer was another 25th century Starfleet starship carrying the name Helios. The destroyer USS Helios was also the lead ship of a second Helios-class. (STO website: Starfleet Advanced Dyson Science Destroyers)
