USS Hipparchus

The USS Hipparchus (NCC-3809)[5] was a Federation starship, a mk VI Ptolemy-class[6] class I transport tug[7] and science vessel[8] in Starfleet service in the 23rd century.[9] The ship was under the command of Captain Rodolfo Eagan. Service history[]

Construction of Hipparchus was authorized by Starfleet appropriation of stardate 0965. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)

Captain Rodolfo Eagan served as the ship's commanding officer on an interim basis in the first half of the 23rd century. By the year 2233, he fulfilled the same role on the USS Archimedes.

In 2257, Emony Dax recalled Eagan's shortcoming of attaining a permanent command, and that he had only served on science vessels like the Hipparchus and the 'Archimedes, and small survey vessels, before his Starfleet career ended. (DSC novel: Die Standing)
