Service history[]
Chief Sergey Rozhenko in 2367.
The USS Intrepid entered service on reference stardate 2/4909, equivalent to the 2310s decade. (FASA RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Officer's Manual)
In the 2340s, Captain Drew Deighan was in command. Chief Sergey Rozhenko, a non-commissioned officer, served a tour on this vessel and considered retiring from Starfleet following its conclusion. At the time, Lieutenant Tobias served as the chief engineer and Doctor Juanita Tavares as chief medical officer. On stardate 23859.7 in the year 2346, Camp Khitomer on planet Khitomer issued a general distress call, which was received by the Intrepid. The Klingon world had been attacked by the Romulan Star Navy in concert with the House of Duras, under the orders of the Praetor Narviat. Captain Deighan dispatched away teams to the surface to search for survivors. The party of Lieutenant Tobias and Chief Rozhenko investigated the ground battle site and discovered two survivors in a sub-basement, the nursemaid Kahlest and the child Worf. Due to their injuries, they were transported to sickbay. Because of the feud between the Klingon Houses of Duras and Mogh, Kahlest convinced Rozhenko to take Worf away from the Klingon Empire. Rozhenko contacted his wife Helena Rozhenko, who agreed to the adoption of the Klingon child. Soon after, Lorgh of Imperial Intelligence, who was now raising Worf's orphaned brother Kurn, was pleased about Worf's rescue by the Intrepid and with having found a new home with the Rozhenkos. (TLE novel: The Art of the Impossible)
Eventually, this Intrepid was succeeded in name by the USS Intrepid (NCC-74600), prototype of the Intrepid-class, in 2369. (ST video game: Starship Creator)
