The USS Kirk (NCC-91277), also known as the James T. Kirk[3], was a 25th century Federation starship, an Exeter-class cruiser in Starfleet service in the 2400s[1] and 2410s[2] decades. Its commanding officer was Captain Thelin. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Diplomatic Orders")

James T. Kirk was a notable Starfleet officer who commanded the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) on a historic five-year mission in the mid-23rd century. (VOY episode: "Q2")
His exploits as captain of the Constitution-class starship were discussed publicly and became legendary during his lifetime. (TOS novel: Ex Machina)
In the 2370s, Starfleet operated an Akira-class named USS James T. Kirk (NCC-63719). (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Rough Beasts of Empire)

Miral Paris entered Starfleet Academy in 2398. Following her graduation, Ensign Paris was assigned to the James T. Kirk. Author Jake Sisko was aware of her assignment. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)

In a fleet led by Captain Geordi La Forge and the USS Challenger and including the Kirk, USS Forrest, Rideout, Terev, and Texas, responded to the appearance of an Undine dreadnought at P'Jem, which attacked a Starfleet vessel visiting the Monastery of P'Jem. The combined firepower of the Kirk and the other ships led to the destruction of the Undine ship. La Forge and Thelin communicated with the local Starfleet vessel before their fleet departed the P'Jem system. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Diplomatic Orders")
"Ambassador" B'vat agreed to a peace negotiation between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, to be held on Regulus IV. The Kirk loaned Paris to further the peace effort. The act of diplomacy turned out to be a ruse and the Klingons sacked the Federation embassy on the planet. (STO - Klingon War mission: "The Kuvah'Magh")
Led by General B'vat, forces of the House of B'vat attacked the Kirk while the Exeter-class ship patrolled the JFS 47 star system. Thelin, Paris and other senior crew members retreated from the bridge. A Klingon boarding party captured Paris before Starfleet reinforcements could stop them, and left the damaged Kirk adrift. B'vat brought Paris to the planet of the Guardian of Forever. They were chased by a Starfleet away team. B'vat escaped with Paris by stepping through the portal. Starfleet pursued the ambassador and his hostage to the IKS Worvig in the year 2270. Blood samples had been taken from Paris in order to cure the QuchHa' of their affliction. Following the death of B'vat in honorable combat, Lieutenant Paris was rescued and the Worvig destroyed. The team returned to the Gateway planet. Paris was relieved to return to the Kirk and having played a part in curing the Klingon augment virus. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Past Imperfect")
Later that year the Kirk was part of a joint Starfleet/Klingon Defense Force battle group that responded to New Romulus to help repel a major Elachi attack on the Romulan Republic. (STO - Vengeance mission: "Devil's Choice")
In 2410, the Kirk was part of the team of Federation, KDF and Romulan Republic ships that tried and failed to defend the Preserver Archive on Lae'nas III from an Iconian Herald attack. The ship was severely damaged during the battle, requiring extensive yard time, and now-Lieutenant Commander Paris was temporarily transferred to USS Bern. As acting captain, Paris and the Bern joined Captain Tom Paris's Delta Flight task force. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Delta Flight")
