The USS Kongo (NCC-2009) was a 23rd century Federation starship, an Excelsior-class battleship in Starfleet service from the 2280s decade. (FASA RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Officer's Manual)

Service history and disposition[]

Kongo-2009 — The *Kongo* enters the Gamma Quadrant in 2373.

USS Kongo trapped — The *Kongo* falling into a Dominion trap.

On stardate 50788.4 in the year 2373, the Kongo joined a group of vessels sent to the Gamma Quadrant in reprisal for a preemptive strike against Deep Space 9 by the Dominion. The Kongo followed the fleet flagship, the USS Enterprise-E, under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, in the company of the Intrepid-class starships USS Pathfinder and USS Stargazer-A, along with a number of Klingon Empire vessels. While engaging Jem'Hadar ships, Pathfinder was destroyed, the only Federation ship to be lost on that mission. (TNG - Unlimited - Telepathy War comic: "Heart of Darkness")
