The USS Kyushu (NCC-65491) was a 25th century Federation starship, a New Orleans-class recon destroyer in Starfleet service in the early 2410s decade. (STO - Victory Is Life mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
Service history and disposition[]
The original New Orleans-class frigate USS Kyushu was wrecked in the Battle of Wolf 359 in the year 2367. (TNG episode: "The Best of Both Worlds", DS9 - Emancipation and Beyond comic: "Program 359")
Following the ravages of the Iconian War in 2410, the Khitomer Alliance tasked the Advanced Starship Design Bureau to replace the spacecraft losses suffered by Alliance fleets. (STO Issue 05: "USS Buran")
Starfleet and the Klingon Defense Force cooperated in the development of new tier 6 destroyers based on the New Orleans class of the 24th century and the Klingon raptor escorts of the 25th century. Along with the retrofitted New Orleans class, the new recon destroyers were the first ships equipped with the hyper-focusing trinary array. This included a replacement Kyushu that carried the name and registry number of the original. (STO website: Victory Is Life: Announcing the Recon Destroyer Bundle!)
From 2410, the Kyushu represented its class in the Starfleet Shipyards Operations interface. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
Khitomer Alliance flag officers in, or aligned with, Starfleet, deployed Kyushu for missions around the galaxy's four quadrants as part of the four-quadrant strategy. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", admiralty system)
