USS Laika was a 22nd or 23rd century Federation starship, a Shepard-class multirole explorer in Starfleet service sometime between the 2190s and 2290s decades.
Service history[]
The Laika was commissioned sometime after 5 May 2196, when the first two Shepard-class starships USS Shepard (NCC-1250) and USS Gagarin (NCC-1309) launched. It was a sister ship of the USS Abdulaziz and USS Novak. Like those, the Laika was named after an early Earth space explorer and its NCC registry number sat in the range between NCC-1250 and NCC-1325.
