When the time-displaced 23rd century starship USS Discovery reported for duty at Federation HQ in the year 3189, Maathai was displayed on the Discovery bridge's viewscreen. Ensign Sylvia Tilly announced it as, "That's a flying rainforest," eliciting laughter from her fellow crewmates. (DSC episode: "Die Trying")
