Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow: The following content contains spoilers!

The USS MacArthur (NCC-4437) was a 23rd century Federation starship, a Larson-class class VII destroyer in Starfleet service in the 2260s and 2270s decades. (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual)

Service history and disposition[]

Commissioned for service[]

Standard and configuration of the era.

Standard bridge and saucer section configuration of the era.

MacArthur entered service as a mark II Larson-class destroyer on reference stardate 2/0205, around the turn of the 2260s.

The FASA RPG manual listing the Larson-class had many dozen ships, all named for military commanders of recent modern history. In particular, this ship is named for Douglas MacArthur.
.

Federation shuttlecraft.

As a standard mark II Larson destroyer, MacArthur measured 269 meters in length, had a crew of 195 officers and enlisted, and a complement of 6 Federation shuttlecraft. (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual)

FASA RPG sources depict the Larson destroyer saucer sections with the same dimensions and configuration as other capital ships of the era, such as the Constitution-class USS Enterprise.

Voyages[]

  (depicted after MacArthur service).

Ensign Chip Miller (depicted after MacArthur service).

Ensign Chip Miller was assigned to the MacArthur security division right out of Starfleet Academy in the year 2266.

Lieutenant Dazé, who had been Miller's roommate, was also assigned aboard as a science officer. (ST - Red Shirts comics: "Issue 1", "Issue 5")

Neural landing party mission[]

.

Neural.

In the year 2266, MacArthur sensors detected botanical traces on Neural that indicated a source of potential vaccine serums.

The landing party sent to investigate was attacked by mugatu. (ST - Red Shirts comics: "Issue 1", "Issue 5")

Refits[]

A Larson .

A refit Larson destroyer.

This vessel was refit to mark VI specifications on stardate 2/1301 and again to mark VII specs on stardate 2/1610.

The mk VI refit increased the crew capacity to 200 and the mk VII refit increased the length to 272 meters with the addition of the new model warp nacelle. (FASA RPG module: Federation Ship Recognition Manual)

Legacy[]

.

USS MacArthur (NCC-1865).

In the 2280s, this ship had been succeeded in name by a Miranda-class ship, the new light cruiser USS MacArthur (NCC-1865). (ST video games: Starfleet Command II: Empires at War, Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates)

There is a possibility that MacArthur could have been refit and re-registered as the new vessel, but it would be speculative to say so. The entire rear of the saucer would have had to have been rebuilt in this scenario.
