The USS Madison (NCC-71808) was a Federation starship, a Galaxy-class exploration cruiser in Starfleet service in the 24th and 25th centuries. (TNG movie: First Contact, STO - Season 13.5 mission: "Beyond the Nexus")
Service history and disposition
By the year 2367, Captain Paul Higginbotham commanded the Madison. (DS9 novel: The Big Game, TNG - Invasion! novel: The Soldiers of Fear)
In 2369, the Madison and the USS Idaho were assigned as part of a small task force of Starfleet and Klingon vessels to assist the USS Enterprise-D in meeting the second invasion of the Furies. (TNG - Invasion! novel: The Soldiers of Fear)
In 2370, the Madison and the Idaho docked at Deep Space 9 and helped prevent a second war between the Federation and the Cardassian Union after a disruption to the First Annual Deep Space Nine Poker Tournament by the Ghost Riders of Espiritu. (DS9 novel: The Big Game)
In 2371, the Madison, Idaho, and USS Bosewell were assigned to escort the ancient Jibetian starship Nibix to Deep Space 9 so it could be protected under Federation jurisdiction. (DS9 novel: The Long Night)
In 2373, the Madison was part of the fleet led by Vice Admiral Jeremiah Hayes that first intercepted a Borg cube in the Typhon sector, before following the cube to Earth for the Battle of Sector 001. Commander Ludwig of the Madison was heard over comm chatter. (TNG movie: First Contact)
Following the reappearance of the long-lost USS Forrestal at the Nexus in 2410, both ships were psionically commandeered by an alien caught in the Nexus. The USS Challenger and another Alpha Quadrant Alliance starship were able to break the mind-control. Fleet Admiral Jorel Quinn later reported all three ships were undergoing repairs at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards and would be needed to explore the frontier. (STO - Season 13.5 mission: "Beyond the Nexus")
