Service history and disposition[]
In service by the early 2250s decade, this vessel was named for the location Manhattan on Earth. In the year 2255, Captain Mark Rousseau took command of this vessel. By 2256, he had left the Manhattan to take over the USS Hood. (TOS novel: The Better Man)
In a Kobayashi Maru scenario, a fictional version of Manhattan was near the Romulan Neutral Zone. (DS9 - Strange New Worlds VI short story: "Best Tools Available")
