The USS Merian[2] (NCC-81904)[3] was a 24th century Federation starship, a Merian-class scientific explorer prototype[1] in Starfleet service in the 2370s[1] decade. (ST video game: Trexels mission: "Skirmish")
Service history and disposition[]

Shakedown cruise in 2377.
The Merian-class explorer entered service in 2370s. The USS Planck was another prototype of this class and performed a shakedown cruise in the year 2377. Their design incorporated the quantum slipstream drive. (SOTL calendar: Ships of the Line 2012)
As part of Federation Starfleet operations in the Trexelian Expanse around stardate 73XX.6, the USS Merian participated in the war games conducted by Starfleet and allied vessels from the 23rd and 24th centuries. (ST video game: Trexels mission: Skirmish)
The Merian also saw action in conflicts with the Breen Confederacy, Cardassian Union and Klingon Empire. (ST video game: Trexels mission: Events)
Legacy[]

The Merian-E.
In the First Splinter[4] timeline, all Merian-class starships had been outfitted with a quantum slipstream drive by October 2385. (PRM novel: Fire with Fire)
Around the 31st century[5], Starfleet had commissioned a new USS Merian. Identified by the registry number NCC-81904-E, the new Merian was the fifth ship to bear the name and served as the prototype for the Merian-class command science dreadnought.
