- For other uses, see Mitchell.
The USS Mitchell (NCC-702) was a 23rd century Federation starship, a Akula-class light cruiser in Starfleet service in the 2280s and 2290s decades.
Service history and disposition[]
Mitchell was initially equipped as a standard light cruiser (CL).
This vessel had the capability of being modified for service as an advanced light cruiser (CL+). (ST video games: Starfleet Command II: Empires at War, Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates)
- No history or definitive fate is established for this vessel as its name was randomly selected for a light cruiser by the SFC games' software.
The Mitchell was used in the elite Klingon Command Academy bridge crew training simulations for the Class of 2290. As such, she was encountered in the Sol star system in a simulated mission, in company with the USS Yamato, USS Johnson, USS Hurricane, USS Dvorak, USS Huntington, USS Vengeance, USS Omaha, USS Arcus, USS Avalanche, USS Decker, USS Tamorra, USS Exodus, and USS Freedom. (ST video game: Klingon Academy)

Background[]
There exists the possibility that this is the same vessel as the tug USS Mitchell referenced as being authorized for construction in ST reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual, either aborted and re-planned as an Akula-class vessel, or having been built and then refit with the new specs and registry.
