Weeks after the Battle at the Binary Stars between Starfleet and a Klingon fleet that heralded the Federation-Klingon War of 2256-2257, the Miyamoto was part of the support Starfleet requested at Captain Thy'kir Shran's request. Together with Shran's ship, the USS Sebrova, and the USS Ticonderoga, the Miyamoto engaged birds-of-prey and Sech-class battlecruisers at Corvan II, helping save the mining colony and the USS Malachowski.
