The USS Mjolnir was a 24th century Federation starship, a Norway-class medium cruiser[2] in Starfleet service from the 2370s decade. Its commanding officer was Captain Kalena Hoku. (DS9 - Mission Gamma novel: Twilight)
Service history and disposition[]
The Mjolnir was named for a weapon from ancient Earth mythology. This Norway-class Mjolnir succeeded a previous USS Mjolnir operated in the late 23rd and early 24th century..
Active service[]
In the early 2370s decade, Ensign Prynn Tenmei was assigned to the Mjolnir following her graduation from Starfleet Academy. (DS9 - Worlds of Deep Space Nine novel: The Dominion: Olympus Descending)
First Splinter timeline[]
In mid-2376 of the First Splinter[6] timeline, the Mjolnir transported Admiral Leonard James Akaar and Councillor Charivretha zh'Thane to Bajor, but first the vessel stopped at Deep Space 9. The Mjolnir was supposed to base at DS9 for defense, but was three weeks early. The Mjolnir was re-assigned to another mission, and the USS Gryphon took over the Mjolnir's assignment. (DS9 - Mission Gamma novel: Twilight)
Shortly after, the Mjolnir responded to the USS da Vinci's distress call after she was heavily damaged at Galvan VI. She later assisted in pulling the da Vinci out of the gas giant's atmosphere and the ship's medical staff helped to treat the da Vinci's injured personnel. (SCE eBooks: Wildfire, Book 2, Breakdowns)
Towards the end of the year, the Mjolnir met with the USS Rio Grande to drop off Lieutenant Sam Bowers and Ensign Aleco and to deliver the new runabout USS Yolja to DS9. (DS9 - Worlds of Deep Space Nine novel: The Dominion: Olympus Descending)
In late November or early December 2377, the Mjolnir docked at Deep Space 9 for maintenance and repairs. Nearly two weeks later, the Mjolnir and the USS Bellerophon responded to a distress call from DS9 requesting immediate assistance in countering the Ascendant invasion fleet over Bajor.
Following the destruction of the invasion fleet, both vessels remained in the system to patrol on both sides of the Bajoran wormhole until a new subspace communications relay could be put in place in the Gamma Quadrant, and while the USS Defiant underwent repairs and the installation of a new warp core. (DS9 novel: Ascendance)
In 2381, Benjamin Sisko boarded the Mjolnir at Deep Space 9 to be taken to a rendezvous with the USS Robinson, Sisko's new command. (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Rough Beasts of Empire)
In 2382, the Mjolnir transported colonists from Entelior IV to Laskitor III. (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Plagues of Night)
In September 2385, the Mjolnir, along with several other vessels, had been assigned to the Federation border in the Helaspont sector as a show of force to the Tzenkethi Coalition due to their possible involvement in the assassination of Federation President Nanietta Bacco. The Mjolnir and the USS Endurance were due to arrive at the border three days after the USS Robinson. (DS9 novel: Sacraments of Fire)

By the 26th century, Starfleet had commissioned another ship of this name, the Theseus-class temporal escort USS Mjolnir, active in the 2550s.
