The USS Montgolfier was a 24th century Federation starship, a Saber-class light cruiser in Starfleet service in the 2370s decade. The USS Montgolfier was commanded by Captain Paul Stephens. (WizKids module: Tactics)

History

The Montgolfier was equipped with a quantum slipstream drive, tetryon compositor, and a heavy graviton beam array. It also had a scavanged Tholian web and a Galor-class phaser bank. (WizKids module: Tactics)

Background

WizKids originally planned to release the USS da Vinci, but encountered licensing issues. The name was changed to USS Montgolfier prior to release. Likely this was named for the Montgolfier brothers, who invented the Montgolfière-style hot air balloon which achieved the first manned ascent. The information card included with the figure indicates the ships' registry to be NCC-40109 but the ship miniature itself boasts the registry NCC-94943.
