The USS Musashi[3] (NCC-74660)[4] was a 24th century Federation starship, a Sovereign-class[1] battleship[1] in Starfleet service from the 2370s[3] to the 2400s[4] decades. (TNG video game: Birth of the Federation)

Service history and disposition[]

Namesakes[]

This ship was named after the ancient Japanese samurai Miyamoto Musashi. (DS9 - The Lives of Dax short story: "The Music Between the Notes", ST - Destiny novel: Lost Souls)

A ship named the USS Musashi fought in the Dominion War and was lost in 2375. (DS9 episode: "Treachery, Faith, and the Great River", SCE - War Stories eBook: Book 1)

Active service[]

USS Musashi 2401

The Musashi at Earth Spacedock in 2401.

In the days leading up to Frontier Day, celebrating 250 years of Starfleet's deep space exploration started with Enterprise's launch in 2151, the Musashi was one of several ships outside Earth Spacedock in Earth's orbit in 2401. The Musashi passed above an outrigger's antenna assembly of the station when retired Admiral Jean-Luc Picard and Captain William T. Riker took Travel Pod 05 to the spacedock. (PIC episode: "The Next Generation")

Alternate timelines[]

Late in the year 2376, the Musashi traveled to Station Kel-Artis, where her chief medical officer, Doctor Dennis Chimelis, was awarded the Bentman Prize. The Musashi was also to retrieve Doctor Elizabeth Lense from the same award ceremony and return her to the USS da Vinci. However, Lense had gone missing, and the Musashi was unable to inform her commanding officer because of communications problems while traversing an ion storm. The Musashi was then scheduled to continue to Cor Caroli IX. (SCE - Wounds eBook: Security)

In 2379, after the disastrous Tezwa affair, the Musashi was sent to aid the USS Enterprise-E with the reconstruction of Tezwa, along with the USS Republic and the USS Amargosa. (TNG - A Time to... novels: A Time to Kill, A Time to Heal)

In the First Splinter[5] timeline, the Musashi participated in the defense of the Beta Quadrant during the Borg Invasion of 2381 in February 2381, the Musashi was in charge of the last six Starfleet vessels facing off against the six Borg cubes attacking Deneva and the escaping transport ships. When only the Musashi was left, with weapons inoperable, while the remaining four cubes razed the planet and its orbital defenses, Captain Alex Terapane ordered all remaining transphasic warheads activated. In a suicide run that the captain likened to a samurai's seppuku, the Musashi blew up two of the cubes. (ST - Destiny novel: Lost Souls)
