The USS Nansen was a 24th centuryFederation starship in service to Starfleet in the 2380s decade. The Nansen was named for a figure of Human history, Fridtjof NansenWP, a League of Nations high commissioner for refugee affairs following the planet Earth's First World War.

Service history and disposition[]

As of early in the year 2381, Nansen was under the command of Captain Martina Cukovich.

That year, in the aftermath of the recent Borg Invasion, Cukovich and the Nansen were ordered by Admiral Leonard James Akaar to Pacifica, in order to relieve Jean-Luc Picard of command of the USS Enterprise-E, already in orbit. Once accomplished, Cukovich volunteered the Nansen and its crew to continue the work already started in alleviating the problems at Pacifica's iy'Dewra'ni refugee camp. The Nansen then took aboard a number of stranded Kazarites, Cygneti, Dopterians, Pentamians, and others, to return them to their home worlds. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
