The USS New Orleans was a Federation starship, the prototype New Orleans-class frigate vessel that was in service to Starfleet in the 24th century. This ship was named for New Orleans, a Human city from the history of Earth's United States of America nation. (ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia)
J.P. Hanson assumed command of the starship in 2323. (TNG novel: The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard)
- The Decipher RPG module: The Price of Freedom states that construction of the New Orleans was completed in the year 2332.
