The USS Nightingale was a 24th century Federation starship, a Wallenberg-class[1] transport/tug[2] in Starfleet service in the late 24th century. Its commanding officer was Captain Jex Pechey. (PIC novel: The Last Best Hope)

Service history and disposition[]

Following the revelation of an impending supernova of the Romulan star Eisn in 2381, Starfleet mounted a relocation operation for affected worlds. The Wallenberg-class transport Nightingale was selected to be refitted for people mass transport while a dedicated rescue armada was under construction at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards.

During the Romulan relocation program, the Nightingale spent a fortnight at the colony world Inxtis before fleet commander Admiral Jean-Luc Picard arrived with the flagship USS Verity to assist with the evacuation. Captain Pechey had been sending daily reports. The fleet was to evacuate the population of Inxtis to the Federation world Vashti in the Qiris sector, across the Romulan Neutral Zone. (PIC novel: The Last Best Hope)

Senator Tenqem Adrev, from the Eisn system, was transported to Vashti aboard the Nightingale. In 2399, he reminded Admiral Picard during the latter's visit to Vashti. (PIC episode: "Absolute Candor")
