A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). For other uses, see Nikita.

The USS Nikita (NCC-93549) was a 24th century Federation starship, an Akira-class heavy escort[1] in Starfleet service by the 2380s decade. (TNG comic: "Hive")

Service history and disposition[]

Nikita and Intrepid

The Nikita and Intrepid at Andor.

The Akira class was a Starfleet ship type geared towards combat operations. In the 2370s, the USS Thunderchild, registry number NCC-63549, faced off against the Borg. (TNG movie, novelization & comic adaptation: Star Trek: First Contact)

The Nikita's registry number only differed in one digit from the Thunderchild's. In the 2380s, the Nikita and the Intrepid-class starship USS Intrepid operated together at Andoria and Andor in the Procyon star system. (TNG comic: "Hive")

Nikita destroyed

The Voldranaii destroy the Nikita.

In one version of events, the Borg Collective created a fake extradimensional species, the Voldranaii, to trick the Federation into entering an alliance on stardate 59844.9 in the year 2382. The Borg Queen directed the Voldranaii fleet to the Andorian system, where the Nikita and Intrepid rushed to the defense of the Andorian homeworld. The Voldranaii fired directed energy weapons at both Starfleet vessels, causing their detonations. (TNG comic: "Hive")
