The Oberon in 2288.

A ship named Oberon was active in the 23rd century. In the late 2280s, a simulation of the Miranda-class cruiser USS Oberon (NCC-1806) was used in Starfleet Academy bridge crew training simulations, in the guise of a science vessel. (TOS video game: Starfleet Academy)

In the 2370s, Starfleet had proposed an Oberon-class heavy frigate for construction. (Last Unicorn RPG module: The Price of Freedom)

Starfleet launched the first batch of exploration-oriented Luna-class starships in 2379, all named after moons in the Sol star system, including the new Oberon. This vessel was named for Uranus' moon Oberon. (TTN novel: Taking Wing Luna Class Concept Notes)

Oberon at the anomaly

The Oberon in 2400.

In the year 2400, the USS Stargazer investigated a spatial anomaly discovered by the USS Avalon. When a massive Borg ship emerged from the anomaly, the Oberon was part of the armada Starfleet built up to reinforce the Stargazer and Admiral Jean-Luc Picard. When the Borg Queen boarded the Stargazer, the Borg Collective attempted to seize control of the fleet. Picard self destructed the Stargazer to stop the Borg and save the armada. (PIC episode: "The Star Gazer")
