The USS Odyssey was a 24th century Federation starship, a Galaxy X-class heavy cruiser in Starfleet service in the 2370s decade. (TNG video game: Birth of the Federation)

In the latter half of the decade, the Odyssey was a Galaxy-class battleship. (ST video games: Armada, Armada II)

Service history and disposition[]

Namesake[]

USS Odyssey and runabouts

The first Galaxy-class USS Odyssey in 2370.

Odyssey was a literary work by the Human Greek author Homer. (TOS novel: Uhura's Song)

At the dawn of the 2370s decade, Starfleet operated the Galaxy-class explorer USS Odyssey (NCC-71832). The Odyssey was destroyed by the Dominion's Jem'Hadar soldiers between stardates 47944.2[4] and 48212.4[5] in the year 2370. (DS9 episode: "The Jem'Hadar")

Wartime service[]

Birth Galaxy X class

Starfleet's Galaxy X-class.

In a series of events where the major powers of local space in the galaxy were involved in general war, Starfleet named a Galaxy X-class heavy cruiser the Odyssey. On behalf of the Federation, the Odyssey saw combat action against the Cardassians, Klingons, Romulans and other hostile nations. (TNG video game: Birth of the Federation)

Spock's convoy

The Odyssey joined by a Federation convoy.

No specific history or definitive final fate was established for this vessel as its name was selected for a cruiser by the game developers, and is placed randomly when the ship appears.
SpockLoS3-1

Ambassador Spock.

Following the end of the Dominion War, the Odyssey was rated a Galaxy-class battleship. In 2376, the Borg Collective attacked the Alpha and Beta Quadrant to secure an Omega molecule and launched an invasion of the Sol star system. In an effort to defeat the Borg, Ambassador Spock boarded the USS Odyssey, which led a convoy of Akira-, Defiant- and Nebula starships to a Romulan starbase in the Romulan Neutral Zone. During the passage of an area of space riddled with nebulae and spatial anomalies, Starfleet's Sovereign-class flagship, the USS Enterprise-E under Captain Jean-Luc Picard, appeared from a time portal. The Enterprise-E had arrived from two days in the future to prevent the assimilation of the convoy by the Borg and the failure of Spock's diplomatic mission.

Odyssey at Romulus

The Odyssey orbits Romulus.

Captain Picard advised the convoy that the Enterprise would personally ferry Spock to the peace conference with the Romulans. En route, the convoy had to fend off and evade several attacks by Borg vessels. However, the diplomatic mission was a success. After the Odyssey and Enterprise arrived at the Romulan starbase D'deras Station above Romulus, Ambassador Spock negotiated a truce between the Romulan Star Empire and Klingon Empire. (ST video game: Armada mission: "Once and Again")

When Locutus led a Borg armada to Earth and Luna two days later, Starfleet deployed two Galaxy-class battleships to defend Starfleet Headquarters, the Odyssey and the USS Ulysses. When the Enterprise joined the battle with Romulan and Klingon Defense Force reinforcements, the Borg were defeated and the Sol system saved. (ST video game: Armada mission: "A Line in the Sand")

Odyssey Alpha Theta

The Odyssey at Alpha Theta VI in 2377.

Six months later, the Borg attacked the Alpha and Beta Quadrants again in 2377 after they became embroiled in a renewed conflict with the Undine, known only by their Borg designation "Species 8472". The Odyssey was one of several Galaxy-class battleships fielded by the Federation against the Borg and the Undine. This included counter-attacks by Starfleet leading into the Delta Quadrant and fluidic space. (ST video game: Armada II)

No specific history or definitive final fate was established for this vessel as its name was selected for a battleship by the game developers, and is placed randomly when the ship appears.

On stardate 54544.2, the Odyssey was assigned to an outpost in the Alpha Theta system. The Federation Sigma-class starbase at Alpha Theta VI was under siege by the Borg Collective and in urgent need of resupply. The Odyssey had to defend its outpost and enable safe passage for Federation cargo ships carrying supplies to the base at Alpha Theta VI. (ST video game: Armada II mission: "Lifelines")

In 2379, the Odyssey was one of the ships appearing in a Starfleet Academy training scenario overseen by Lieutenant Commander Carey. (ST video game: Armada II mission: "Tutorial")

Legacy[]

Intrepid class Legacy

The Intrepid-class USS Odyssey in 2380.

USS Odyssey NX-97000

The Odyssey-class USS Odyssey in 2409.

In 2380, Starfleet saw renewed conflict with a Borg faction controlled by the rogue Vulcan scientist T'Uerell. One of four Intrepid-class cruisers helping to fight T'Uerell's forces was the USS Odyssey (NCC-74650). (ST video game: Legacy)

Starfleet commissioned the USS Odyssey (NX-97000) as the lead ship of the 25th century Odyssey-class star cruiser. (STO - Genesis mission: "The Odyssey Class")

Alternate timeline[]

In an alternate timeline were Spock's diplomatic mission in 2376 was a failure, the Odyssey and the Ulysses were the only Galaxy-class ships deployed by Starfleet at Earth as part of the fleet. The Borg defeated Starfleet, assimilating and destroying Starfleet's ships and space stations, including the Odyssey. (ST video game: Armada mission: "The Twilight Hour")

This turn of events was negated when the timeship USS Premonition sent the Enterprise into the past through a time portal. (ST video game: Armada mission: "Once and Again")
