Stars like Pegasus Major were part of the Pegasus constellation, visible from Earth. (TOS - The Brave and the Bold, Book One novella: The First Artifact)

Starfleet named several ships Pegasus. The USS Pegasus (NCC-612) was a Hermes-class scout active by the 2260s. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)

The USS Pegasus (NCC-622), which had a similar NCC registry number, was an Oberth-class science vessel operating around the year 2285. (ST video game: Encounters)

Saturn, seventh planet of Sol.

Pegasus was built either at the Salazaar Shipyard or Saturn shipyards and entered service c. 2285, on reference stardate 2/2205. It was assigned to Starfleet Galaxy Exploration Command and remained operational through the late 2280s, reference stardate 2/2306.

Its registry number was higher than the class prototype's, the USS Charger (NCC-4000). (Stardate Magazine vol. 3, Issue 1: "Federation Charger Class Destroyer")

A similarly named contemporary vessel was the Miranda-class, Reliant-subclass starship USS Pegasus Bay, whose designation referenced an area of New Zealand on Earth. (TOS video game: Starfleet Command)

In the 24th century, the USS Pegasus (NCC-53847) was the second of three[1] Oberth-class starships named the Pegasus. (TNG episode: "The Pegasus")
