USS Pollux (NCC-1808)

The USS Pollux (NCC-1808) was a 23rd century Federation starship in Starfleet service.

Service history and disposition[]

Pollux, with registry number NCC-1808, was authorized for construction as a Tikopai-class heavy cruiser by a Starfleet appropriation on stardate 5930 in the early to mid-2260s decade. (ST reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)

It is not clear if Pollux was ever built to the original Federation heavy cruiser specifications, as the SFTM only notes it was authorized. It is possible it was built as a Tikopai-class vessel and then refit, or that the plans were cancelled and/or altered to make way for the ship commissioning of the Ranger-class. The two designs have greatly different size and configuration, potentially ruling out a possible refit scenario. It is also possible the two vessels do not exist in the same continuity, although in many ways the SFC games provide a continuation for concepts originated in the SFTM, meaning the two being alternate histories from each other is an unlikely prospect.

Named for the star system at Pollux, this vessel was in service as a Ranger-class battle carrier (BCV) in the 2280s and 2290s. (ST video games: Starfleet Command II: Empires at War, Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates)

No history or definitive fate is established for this vessel in the SFC games as its name was randomly selected for a carrier by the SFC game software.

In the 24th century, by the 2370s decade, this ship had been succeeded in name by a Federation repair ship, the USS Pollux. (ST video game: Armada II)
