The USS Pratchett (NCC-47802) was a 25th century Federation starship, a Mercury-class tactical pilot escort in Starfleet service in the 2410s decade. The Pratchett entered service during the Iconian War and was assigned by Captain Tom Paris to the Delta Flight task force. Pratchett's commanding officer was the Talaxian trader Ferix.

Service history[]

Ferix

Ferix, CO, USS Pratchett.

Ferix learned that there was profit to be found in conflicts and wars, though it paid to know the area. In his time, he escaped from Benthan Guard custody thrice. At one point, he went past a Voth defense line to recover the lost chalice of Xi'Xil'Ma. (STO - Iconian War mission: "Delta Flight")

Captain Tom Paris, designer and commanding officer of the first pilot warship and sister ship of the Pratchett, USS Mercury (NCC-47802), recruited candidates for a new task force to help turn the tide in the Iconian War. Paris, who had a checkered history, looked for great pilots and misfits. (STO - Iconian War short story: "Tales of War")

Paris convinced Ferix to join the task force Delta Flight in the year 2410. Initially, Ferix had been unwilling to leave the Delta Quadrant.

In the aftermath of the Battle of Lae'nas III, Captain Kagran, coordinator of the Khitomer Alliance's Iconian Resistance effort, assigned Delta Flight to stop the Solanae from opening a powerful Iconian gateway in the Calbriden star system. The Solanae had placed a Solanae space station there and sought to change space to establish a pocket of their subspace domain.

Paris appointed Ferix as the commanding officer of the Mercury-class pilot escort USS Pratchett. The task force's leadership conferred with Captain Paris aboard the USS Bern, itself under the command of Lieutenant Commander Miral Paris. Captain Ferix, unlike most of the others, lacked a particular specialization within the team, though Captain Paris referred to him as the cook - a reference to Paris' longtime friend Neelix. Delta Flight infiltrated the Calbriden system, using the asteroid field that had been Calbriden III as cover, and destroyed the Solanae installation. (STO - Iconian War mission: "Delta Flight")

The Pratchett was part of the Alliance's disastrous attack on the Dyson sphere in the Iconia system. (STO - Iconian War mission: "Broken Circle")
