The USS Protector was a Federation starship in Starfleet service in the 23rd century.
Service history and disposition[]
In the year 2279, the Protector was the closest ship to the position of the USS Gagarin when that vessel was attacked by Klingons. Unfortunately, it was three hours away, and was unable to respond in time. (TOS novel: In the Name of Honor)
