The USS Relativity (NCV-474439-G) was a 29th century Federation starship, a Wells-class timeship in Starfleet's Temporal Integrity Commission service at some point around the 2860s[1] decade. Its commanding officer was Captain Braxton. (VOY episode: "Relativity")

Service history and disposition[]

The Relativity was launched under cooperation between the Temporal Integrity Commission and the University of Copernicus. Its dedication plaque identified it as the seventh ship to bear the name. (VOY episode: "Relativity")

The registry number suffix "G" indicates its the eighth ship.

In the year 2862, Captain Braxton was in command of the Epoch-class timeship shuttle USS Aeon. (Last Unicorn RPG module: All Our Yesterdays: The Time Travel Sourcebook)

Relativity fires

Relativity and Excalibur.

Braxton, now in command of Relativity, was first encountered by 24th century Starfleet personnel in 2374 when the timeship traveled back to prevent Captain Mackenzie Calhoun and the crew of the USS Excalibur from interfering with history and helping the people of Haresh overcome a Redeemer attack. Captain Braxton had the Excalibur disabled, but the interference was allowed to continue when an Enevian starship from the 39th century arrived and ordered the Relativity to leave. (NF comic: "Double Time")

Some time later the crew of the Relativity-G were ordered to investigate the USS Voyager's destruction in 2375 and transported Seven of Nine aboard to help with their investigation. Over the course of the mission, Seven of Nine had to be recruited multiple times. It was later determined that a future version of Braxton had been responsible and after his sabotage was averted, the current Braxton was arrested by his first officer, Lieutenant Juel Ducane.

Braxton had previously repaired timeline damage caused by Voyager. Ducane gave Captain Kathryn Janeway the friendly warning that Voyager appeared too often on Relativity's sensors. (VOY episode: "Relativity")

At the time, Relativity personnel included crew from alien species that the Federation had not yet encountered by the 2370s. (The Official Starships Collection Issue 59: "USS Relativity")

Janeway timeships

Janeway's timeships.

In one version of events, Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway from the Future and the timeships Relativity, USS Aeon and a Krenim Annorax-class science vessel arrived in the 2370s to fix the timeline. (VOY CCG set: Fluxx, card: "Goal: Fixing the Timeline")

Alternate versions of Braxton and Temporal Agent Seven of Nine were drawn into an alternate timeline that suffered from the temporal anomaly crisis. They joined the native Starfleet to work with Q to resolve the crisis. (ST video game: Timelines)

Ducane received a promotion to commander. During a mission to 2381, he duplicated Federation President Nanietta Bacco to prevent her retroassassination. Sometime later, Ducane led armored troops to a moon where the Tandaran scientist Vard held a conference after it became a flashpoint between various factions of the Temporal Cold War. (DTI novel: Watching the Clock)

The Relativity stasis pistol and the Relativity self-targeting rifle were hand-held phaser weapons named for this ship. They were acquired by the Lobi Crystal Consortium in the year 2409 following temporal incursions by the Tholians in the Azure Nebula, and sold to officers of the Khitomer Alliance. At that time, a version of Ducane joined Khitomer Alliance crews as senior chief specialist during an investigation into a temporal beacon. (STO - Legacy of Romulus mission: "Spin the Wheel")
