The USS Rigel (NCC-1824) was a Federation starship, a Constitution-class (class I heavy cruiser) in Starfleet service, named for the Rigel star system.
Service history and disposition[]
Construction of Rigel as a class I starship of the Tikopai-subclass was authorized by the Starfleet appropriation of stardate 5930. (ST reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)
By the 2280s and/or 90s decades, Rigel was in service as a Constitution II-class vessel, modified for service as a tactical command cruiser (TCC). (ST video games: Starfleet Command II: Empires at War, Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates)
