By the year 2293, the Scovil' was under the command of Captain D. Hulett, and was conducting astronomical research near the Klingon Empire's territorial borders in sector 21837 in the Beta Quadrant. (TOS movie: The Undiscovered Country)

The Scovill was not mentioned or seen, only listed on a piece of graphic art seen as a set decoration. The vessel was probably named for Charles Scovil, an astronomer.
