The USS Shaitan (NCC-519) was a 23rd century Federation starship, authorized on stardate 0965 by Starfleet for construction as a Mk VIII Saladin-class class I destroyer. (TOS reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)
By the 2280s, this vessel had been modified as an Akula-class vessel. (ST video game: Starfleet Command)
- Since the 2280s Shaitan had the same name, registry and general configuration, it could be assumed that the later ship was this same vessel with a new hull structure grafted on in a refit process.
