The USS Shran (NX-91413[3], later NCC-91413[1]) was a 25th century Federation starship, the Shran-class light escort prototype in Starfleet service in the 2410s decade. (STO - Mirror of Discovery short story: "Jayce's Interstellar: Around the Galaxy")
Service history[]
Following the recovery of Yard 39 in the TL-9139 star system in the Tellar sector in 2410, 150 years after it was abandoned in 2259, Starfleet revived ship classes of that bygone era and developed new types based on the recovered hulks. The Shran was the lead ship of a new light escort class, based on the Magee-class active during Burnham's War. The USS Shran, initially carrying a prototype status-denoting NX registry number prefix, was constructed at the Laikan Starfleet Shipyards in the Andoria system in the Vulcan sector. As of stardate 87831.2 in the year 2410, the Shran underwent field testing. The development received input from the Allied Cooperative Starship Development Board. Starfleet designed the Shran to operate in all four quadrants of the Milky Way Galaxy. Jayce's Interstellar reported the Shran, still slated for an official launch, was seen using a gravimetric weapon. (STO - Mirror of Discovery short story: "Jayce's Interstellar: Around the Galaxy")
Later in 2410, the Shran entered service and carried the NCC registry prefix. It was named after the 23rd century Magee-class starship USS Shran (NCC-1413) and the 22nd century Andorian Imperial Guard General Thy'lek Shran. Its reaction control thrusters were more powerful than 20th century Earth Saturn V rockets. The crew count amounted to 97 people. (STO Collection Issue 14: "USS Shran")
From 2410 onwards, the Shran represented its class on the shipyards interfaces operated by New Romulus Shipyards, Klingon Defense Force Order of Builders and Starfleet Shipyards Operations at Khitomer Alliance facilities across the Milky Way Galaxy. It was rated a tier 6 escort. (STO - The Iconian War missions: "Explore the Flotilla", "The Hunt is On", "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
Flag officers of the Alliance could deploy the Shran alongside other spacecraft for assignments across the galaxy's quadrants as part of Operation: Delta Rising's four-quadrant strategy. (STO - New Dawn mission: "Admiralty System")
In 2411, Starfleet commissioned the tier-6 Cabot-class command light escort. Its design was an evolution of the successful USS Shran. (STO website: Stormfall: Cabot Command Light Escort!)
