For other uses, see Spitfire.

The USS Spitfire was a Federation Defiant-class escort/destroyer starship in Starfleet service in the 24th century. This ship was in active service around the 2370s decade. (ST video games: Armada, Armada II)

History[edit | edit source]

Borg invasion of 2376[edit | edit source]

On stardate 53551.3, the USS Enterprise-E found the USS Spitfire adrift near Starbase 612 following a surprise attack by the Borg Collective. Captain Jean-Luc Picard had away teams transport to the Spitfire and the rest of the derelict fleet. The Spitfire returned to duty in time to ward off further Borg attacks and destroy their base in the sector. (ST video game: Armada mission: "Dark Omens")

Borg invasion of 2377[edit | edit source]

On stardate 54566.1, the Spitfire suffered the same fate at Starbase 176. A task force led by the Enterprise recovered the Spitfire and the other derelict starships and restored them to their former condition. The restored Spitfire helped defend the base against further Borg attacks until the Borg Nexus in the system was destroyed. With the starbase secured, the fleet attacked an incoming Borg convoy and recaptured the USS Douglass from the Borg. (ST video game: Armada II mission: "Recovery")

On stardate 54612.7, the Spitire was part of a fleet led by the Enterprise to a starbase in the Suah'Dron system in the Regula Badlands, where the Borg had constructed a transwarp portal near a tachyon nebula. The fleet eliminated the Borg presence and fortified the system, and claimed the transwarp portal as its price. (ST video game: Armada II mission: "Into the Breach")

No final fate is established for this vessel as its name was randomly selected for a Defiant-class vessel by the game software. The ship may be named for various usages of the common meaning of the term "spitfire", such as the phrase's previous use referring to a type of aircraft, the Supermarine Spitfire.
