The USS Summit was a 24th century Federation starship, an Akira-class heavy cruiser in Starfleet service in the 2370s decade.
Service history and disposition[]
Early in the year 2376, the Summit attempted to rescue the USS Enterprise-E which had become trapped by an dimensional rift in orbit of Gemworld, despite warnings to stay away by Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Shortly after dropping out of warp the Summit's systems became overloaded by the rift and she was destroyed following a warp core breach. (TNG - Gemworld novel: Book One)
